Light
Photography actually means Drawing with Light, from the Greek roots φωτός (phōto's), genitive of φῶς (phōs), "light" and γραφή (graphé) "representation by means of lines" or "drawing", together meaning "drawing with light".
Here I try to show light in action. Either direct sun catching an object or scene, or a glow, or illumination. Dramatic light is always good for photography.

Sunlight clips the Ochil Hills. This was taken from the car park to the Shieldbank Riding & Vaulting Club. Not only does it have a lovely cafe, but has a nice Photo club on Friday Nights (Out with Lockdown restrictions). Therefore a nice easy location for me to take the picture from Camera Nikon D750 Location:- 56°07'35.3"N 3°35'38.2"W 56.126463, -3.593952

The lone tree on Loch Lomond. This was a specific drive to this location to get this image. We had been previously, but the water level was low and the tree was not sitting in water, which is how we wanted it. This time it was perfect. How accessible? Step out the car and it is in front of you. There is a parking area with toilets here and some bays over look this tree. Milarrochy bay is what you are looking for. Glen Etive. The look is of isolation. A long hike in up a muddy path. Wet clothes and leaking boots. But no. It is from the road side. Fairly easy for us to park and walk around to get the right angles. Yes it was a fairly foul day, but that makes good images in the Glen Etive and Glencoe area. EDIT - Sept 2023 - This was to be vlogged as my No.3 Accessible Location in Glen Etive. Camera Nikon D7000 Location:- 56°36'58.6"N 4°58'05.1"W 56.616263, -4.968073 What3Words ///dwarf.tuck.librarian

Glen Etive from Glen Coe. Have you seen the famous image taken a thousand times of the Buachaille Etive Mor with a small waterfall and Silver Birch tree? You will know it, I may even add one on here. Well, this was taken from that spot. Instead of pointing West I turned South and saw this wonderful light on the hills of Glen Etive and took a picture. I am glad I did, I really like it. The sun was bright on the rock face, so I took an exposure from the brightest point and took that image so as not to burn out the highlights. Access is moderately easy. If wet it will be very muddy and good boots or rubber boots are recommended. This is because the area is heavily walked over by photographers as this is now a "Honey pot" location. Dusk over the Scottish Highlands. Can photography be anymore accessible than from a comfortable seat? Okay, the seat is on an airliner flying from Oslo to Edinburgh, but how lucky was I to get this light and be on the correct side of the plane to make use of it. This is taken on 55mm setting on my baby camera, a Panasonic Lumix DMC - TZ60.

Clackmannan Parish Church. All lit up on a spectacular sunset evening. I had driven down the road looking for decent views to make use of this wonderful sky. It had actually begun to fade, but a longer shutter speed due to the darkening landscape brought the colour back. This is as it was to the eye just minutes earlier. This location requires parking in a farm track entrance way. Close to a bend so do not exit South wards, head North and turn back later if you need to. Winter Sun rays A gorgeous winter's afternoon. The low sun shining through the trees catching some mist moments before it disappeared. Another image from close to the car. Stopped in an entrance to a farm road, I was out of the way for any possible traffic, and safe considering the conditions. I then took a few careful steps and got this scene. The mist was going fast, my first couple of images had more, but the composition was poor. Camera Nikon D750 Location:- 56°10'58.0"N 3°34'53.6"W 56.182768, -3.581545
Bow Fiddle Rock. The Original image is in Portrait orientation, but this page is set only to take Landscape. I have therefore cropped it for this page. This was taken on Christmas Eve, the sun, even in the middle of the day is very low in the sky. Behind and to the side are cliffs and the only part of the rock able to catch the sun light is the tip of the near peak and half of the further away peak. This is quite literally "touched by light". My Vlog from here shows the rock beach and the steep path in and out of the small bay that looks out on to this wonderful scene. I mention it is not the most accessible place to get to, but point out there is an over look from the top of the cliff for those less mobile. Refinery and small boat. Taken on a Photo club evening out at Kincardine Bridge. Looking towards Grangemouth. Long exposure so the boat is slightly blurred from movement. We parked at Station Road, Kincardine. Crossed the railway line (official crossing) and walked 1000ft, 305m to the jetty where the picture was taken from. You get a good picture of Kincardine Bridge from there as well. Camera Nikon D750. Location:-56°03'56.3"N 3°43'22.9"W 56.065651, -3.723036

Bamburgh Castle, One-time seat of the Kings of Northumbria. A Trip down the East coast with a photography friend saw us end up on a huge wet beach with wonderful reflections. Access is easy. There is a carpark by the beach and it is a simply walk down the flat sands to get this view. Watch tide times and aim to get there as the tide is going out. Being a flat beach it will go out quick and far. 55°36'49.4"N 1°43'00.0"W 55.613731, -1.716669
